Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to support a critical
healthcare facility in
South West London.
This role presents a unique opportunity to work on essential systems that directly ensure patient safety and hospital operational excellence.
The Role As the Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you will join a busy healthcare site, supporting critical building services and specialist hospital plant. You will:
- Deliver Core Maintenance: Support a mix of PPM and reactive mechanical maintenance across the facility.
- Manage Specialist Systems: Work on complex medical gas and ventilation systems, ensuring the safe isolation of gases and critical services.
- Troubleshoot & Repair: Conduct fault-finding and repairs on ventilators and specialist hospital plant while adhering to strict healthcare safety standards.
- On-Call Response: Participate in a 1 in 6 call-out rota to ensure 24/7 system reliability.
- Flexible Shifts: Work a balanced shift pattern of either 07:00–15:30 or 10:30–19:00, Monday to Friday.
You To be successful in this role, you will ideally be based south of the river (Hammersmith, Shepherd’s Bush, or similar) and bring:
- Qualifications: A time-served apprenticeship with a minimum of NVQ Level 1 or 2 in Mechanical Engineering and City & Guilds (or equivalent).
- Technical Experience: Proven experience with medical gas OR ventilation systems. AP (Authorised Person) experience is a plus, though training can be provided.
- Requirements: A stable work history, a full UK driving licence with your own vehicle, and a DBS check (existing or willing to obtain).
- Background: A strong work ethic and positive attitude. Ex-forces candidates are highly encouraged to apply.

- Competitive Salary: A basic salary of £39,000 plus a £500 annual payment.
- Enhanced Call-Out & Overtime: * £100 standby allowance per week.
- Minimum 4 hours per call-out.
- Generous rates: Double time after midnight and on Sundays; Time and a half on Saturdays.
